Introduction of the bridge



The G3 Tongling Yangtze River Bridge is 11.88 kilometers long and has three functions of crossing the river: expressway, intercity railway and freight railway. The bridge is an important project for Tongling to improve the construction of comprehensive transportation facilities and realize cross-river development. It is built according to the standard of "four-lane railway + six-lane expressway".

The construction of the difficulty

The No. 3 pier cap of the bridge is 7 meters high, the area is larger than 11 standard basketball courts, and the total concrete volume is 2.6292 cubic meters. The cap is one of the key control points for G3 Tongling Yangtze River highway and Railway Bridge construction due to its large scale, complex structure, many technical difficulties in construction, tight time limit and high quality requirements.

Pier 3 is the main pier of the G3 Tongling Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge, which will be 253.5 meters high when completed, equivalent to the height of an 85-story building. 68 super-large diameter bored piles with a diameter of 3.0 meters and a hole formation depth of 122.5 meters are used for the foundation of pier No. 3. The steel cofferdam is 104.6 meters long, 51.2 meters wide and 32.5 meters high, which is equivalent to an 11-story building covering 10 basketball courts. It is the largest round dumbbell-shaped steel cofferdam in the world.



Project measures

The vertical stratification of the cap pouring, horizontal block, and 2 meters wide post-pouring belt are set in the girder area. The whole cap is divided into 2 layers and poured 5 times, and 1176 square meters of concrete are poured this time. In order to ensure the temperature control of large volume concrete, three layers with 11 groups of cooling water pipes are arranged for each layer. The intelligent temperature control system developed by Southeast University is used for intelligent temperature control, so as to realize real-time monitoring, dynamic prediction, automatic regulation and visual management of temperature control of mass concrete.

In order TO ensure the smooth pouring of large volume concrete of No.3 main pier cap, the project Department formulated special pouring scheme and emergency support measures before pouring, and carried out detailed safety and technical disclosure for the operators, and technical, measurement and test personnel stood by the site throughout the whole process.




G3 Tongling Yangtze River Highway and Railway Bridge is an important project to speed up Tongling's integration into Hefei metropolitan area and Yangtze River Delta based on the Yangtze River Economic Belt. After completion, it is of great significance to build copper development belt, comprehensively promote the construction of the southern Anhui international cultural tourism demonstration zone, accelerate the coordinated development of regional economy, strengthen the connectivity of the Yangtze River Delta, and build a modern comprehensive transportation system.
