At 7:18 a.m., under the command of the A6 project manager of a company of China Railway Construction Bridge Bureau, the high-power ZJD4000 full-hydraulic gyroscope rig started on the construction platform and drilled slowly in the pre-laid steel protective cylinder. The first bored pile with a diameter of 2.5 meters of the main tower was drilled smoothly!

Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge connects Suzhou, Taizhou and Nantong. It is a key river crossing promoted during the national "14th Five-Year Plan" and a key implementation project of comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor planning of Yangtze River Economic Belt in Jiangsu Province. Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge is located between Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge and Husutong Bridge. The route length is 29.849 kilometers, including 7,859 meters across the river, including two channel Bridges in the south and north, and three approach Bridges in the south, middle and north.

Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge is one of the key highway crossings to be constructed recently in the Yangtze River Trunk Crossing Channel Layout Plan (2020-2035) issued by the National Development and Reform Commission. It is also the fourth channel to be implemented in Nantong, following Sutong Bridge, Chongqi Bridge and Husutong Bridge in the pattern of "Eight Dragons Crossing the River". The project is of great significance for implementing the national strategy for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region and the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and promoting the construction of the Yangtze River city cluster and the integrated development across the Yangtze River.
Key points, difficulties and highlights of pile foundation construction of main tower
Pile group foundation is used in the pile foundation of the north cable tower of the North passage bridge of Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge. A total of 46 bored piles with a length of 114 meters are set. The cable tower is a steel tower of portal structure, with a total height of 217 meters. There are two beams in total. The column and beam are steel box structure. The maximum drilling depth of the first pile foundation of the main tower is 121.2 meters. The main strata through which are silty silty clay, silty sand, silty clay, medium coarse sand, and finally medium sand as the foundation bearing layer.
Bridge engineering is the key point, difficulty and highlight of Yangtze River Bridge project construction in Zhangjinggao. The pile foundation construction of the main tower of the Fairway Bridge is the key line. The geological condition of the pile foundation construction is generally poor, and the environmental protection requirements of the construction area are extremely high.
