Newport Expressway Shuangliu Yangtze River Bridge and connection project is located in Wuhan City and Ezhou City, the total length of the route is 34.697 km, the design speed of 120 km / h. Shuangliu Yangtze River Bridge is the river crossing of Xingang Expressway, and the main bridge adopts the main span of 1430m double-tower single-span steel box girder suspension bridge to cross the river. The north bank of the bridge is located in Xinzhou District, Wuhan City, and the south bank is located in Huarong District, Ezhou City.
Shuangliu Yangtze River Bridge has "large span, wide bridge deck, high main tower, new materials" four major features.
◆ The span is large, the main span is 1430 meters, which is in the forefront of the same type of structure.
◆ Wide bridge deck, using two-way eight-lane construction standard, the full width of the bridge is 50.5 meters.
◆ The height of the main tower is 212.75 meters on the south bank, which is in the forefront of the same type of bridges in China.
◆ New materials, the main cable steel wire adopts new zinc-aluminum rare earth alloy coated steel wire, which can improve the corrosion resistance of the steel wire; the steel box girder U-rib and plate rib use new friction type ring groove rivet connection, relative to the high strength bolts, which can enhance the durability of the connection; the bridge deck uses steel-light ultra-high performance concrete combination, which can improve the performance of concrete, reduce the weight of the bridge and extend the service life of the bridge deck pavement.

During the National Day, the builders insisted on the construction and finished the first pile foundation in only 8 days.
