The “bridgehead” of Pinglu Canal in Guangxi, Xijin second-line lock, which was built by the Second Aviation Bureau of China Communications, is now navigable

Recently, 9 ships full of cargo filed out, "century project" Guangxi Pinglu Canal "bridgehead project" - Xijin water project second line lock officially completed navigation. At this point, the Xijiang River shipping trunk line has a 3,000-ton lock, realizing the full connection of the double-line shipping lock, which will effectively solve the bottleneck problem of Xijiang River shipping trunk line.



Xijin second-line lock project was officially started in October 2017. Located on the right side of the original 1,000-ton Xijin first-line lock, the designed annual one-way passage capacity can reach 27.6 million tons. The total estimated investment of the project is 3.299 billion yuan, and the construction is divided into 6 sections. The second navigation Bureau of China Communications undertook the construction of the civil engineering bid I and II. The main construction contents include the construction of the traffic bridge of the first-line and second-line lock across the hub, the diversion of the approach channel on the lock, the excavation of earth and rock, the slope protection, the flow barrier, the pier, the slope protection, the traffic road and other supporting works.

Xijin second-line lock project is a key project of national strategic Pearl River - Xijiang Economic Belt development plan and Xijiang Golden waterway construction, a key project of infrastructure construction in Guangxi Xijiang Economic Belt and a key project of strengthening the capital, as well as a key project of Guangxi logistics channel for the new land and sea passage in the west. After the opening of Xijin second-line lock, the annual one-way passing capacity will be 6 times that of the first-line lock. Only 3 1,000-ton ships can sail in the first-line lock within 2 hours, and 15 ships can sail in the second-line lock, greatly improving the navigation efficiency.
