Recently, the second aviation Bureau of China Communications won the bidding of Guangzhou Shiyang Passage civil engineering T8 section, the bid amount of more than 1 billion yuan. The Lion Ocean Channel is the first double-layer river crossing channel in the Pearl River estuary. Its main bridge structure has the characteristics of "high tower, long span, light quality, soft stiffness and weak damping". When completed, it will become the double-layer suspension bridge with the largest span and the highest main tower in the world.
The Shiyang Passage starts from Dagang Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou City and ends in Humen Town, Dongguan City. It is about 3.6 kilometers from Nansha Bridge on the upstream and 8 kilometers from Humen Bridge on the downstream, connecting with Guangzhongjiang Expressway on the west and Changhu Expressway on the east. The total length of the project is about 35 kilometers, of which the double-deck bridge is adopted in the river crossing section, which is about 12.5 kilometers long. The Shiyang Bridge adopts the scheme of "one span across the river" with the main span of 2,180 meters and the main tower is 338.9 meters high, with a total of 16 lanes of double-deck high speed, and the driving speed is 100 kilometers per hour. In addition, the outer diameter of the circular ground connecting wall of the anchoring foundation of the bridge is 130 meters, and the length of a single main cable is about 3,832 meters, with a diameter of nearly 1.5 meters. Upon completion, the bridge will be the first in the world in five categories: "span of the main span, number of lanes, height of the main tower, anchorage foundation and scale of the main cable".
The total length of the T8 bid section won by the Second Navigation Bureau of China Communications is about 1.68 kilometers. The main construction contents include the west tower of the main bridge of Shiyang Bridge (excluding steel shell manufacturing, transportation, on-site connection and painting), the installation of main SPAR saddle and steel girder on the west side, the erection of main cable on the upstream side, and the installation of side cable clips and slings on the upstream side. Construction of substructure of approach bridge in West High Pier area and installation of steel girder, bridge panel and auxiliary structure of upper structure.
The Lion Ocean Passage is another Pearl River Estuary cross-river passage promoted by Guangdong Province after the release of the Outline of Development Planning for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is an important part of the east-west trunk passage connecting the three metropolitan areas of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and radiating the eastern and western wings, as well as the national coastal Passage. It will play an important role in improving the road network structure on the east and west sides of the Pearl River, alleviating the traffic pressure on the Pearl River Estuary crossing, promoting the infrastructure connectivity of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and bringing better travel experience to people on both sides.
